Starting May 1, we will launch a new Freight Matrix that provides clearer, more consistent freight costs based on your order size and delivery location. Freight charges will now be calculated at the time you place your order—giving you a clear view of your total costs upfront. With this update, you’ll know exactly what to expect when it comes to freight charges—no more waiting until the invoice to see your final shipping costs.

What’s changing?

1. Tiered freight based on order size
   The more you order, the better your freight rate. Here's a look at how the new freight percentages will be structured:

1. Rates based on delivery zone
   Delivery locations will be organized into four different zones, and each of those zones’ freight costs will vary. These zones were created based on the distance from Mud Pie’s distribution center, delivery times, and regional costs. A zone chart is shown below so you can see where your store falls.

Question: How will I know exactly how much I will be charged in freight?

Answer: The freight matrix will show you the exact percentage you will be charged in freight based on order total (after discounts) and geographical ship-to location. The freight percentage is calculated off of the merchandise total (after any discounts) of your order.

Question: What if I have locations in different states?

Answer: Freight will be based on the state the order is shipping to. The billing address will not impact the cost of freight.

Question: Will I be able to use a freight collect account if I prefer?

Answer: Yes. We are able to ship via both FedEx Ground and UPS Ground via freight collect. Please contact Customer Experience to attach your freight collect number to your Mud Pie account and orders.

Question: Will my loyalty benefits be affected by this change?

Answer: Not at this time. All current loyalty benefits will remain in place through the 2025 loyalty season.

Question: What will the freight charge be on orders placed before May 1^st?

Answer: Orders placed before May 1^st will retain whatever freight terms or promotional terms were valid at the time the order was submitted. These terms cannot be edited.

Question: How will my orders ship?

Answer: FedEx is Mud Pie’s default carrier so ground shipment orders will ship FedEx. Orders that qualify to ship palletized based on weight can ship via a variety of freight carriers.

Question: Are there any stipulations in order to be eligible for the freight matrix?

Answer: Yes. Accounts must be able to accept pallet deliveries. There may be additional costs for Lift Gate/Inside Delivery charges. The freight matrix is only valid for shipping locations within the contiguous United States. We will ship directly to Hawaii or Alaska if customer provides their own FedEx Freight Collect account number.
